– 2 mediumstalks celery, diced

– 4 large cloves garlic, minced
– 1 roasted red pepper, chopped
– 1 teaspoon dried basil
– 1 teaspoon dried oregano
– 2 bay leaves
– 2 1/2 cupsfinely chopped tomatoes in their juice (or good quality tomato sauce)
– 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
– 3/4 cup white wine
– 2 tablespoons tomato paste.
