– 1 medium sweet onion, coarsely chopped
– 6 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 tbsp Olive OilFresh basil, leaves stripped, stems discarded coarsely chopped
– salt and pepper to taste
– 1 can tomato paste
– Italian sausage, optional
– grated cheese, optional
