– 3-4 pounds stew meat (or chuck roast cut into 1-inch cubes)
– 1/2 cup chicken broth
– 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce (regular soy sauce may make this too salty)
– 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
– 4 cloves garlic, finelyminced or pressed through a garlic press
– 1 tablespoon sesame oil (toasted or regular)
– 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger (or ginger paste)
– Pinch of red pepper flakes or dash or two of hot sauce (optional)
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon onion powder
– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
– 2 tablespoons cornstarch
– 3 tablespoons cold water
– 10 ouncesshredded carrots
– Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish
– Hot, cooked rice or quinoa, for serving
