– 1 cup dry brown lentils
– 1 cup green split peas
– one large onion, chopped
– one large red bell pepper, chopped

– 4 carrots, sliced
– 2 cups chopped kale
– 3 small Campari tomatoes, chopped (or any other variety of tomato – about 1 cup)
– 8 cups chicken or vegetable broth
– 1 tbsp olive oil
– 2 bay leaves
